Michael Joe Young went home to our Creator on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. He is a beautiful soul who shined his light among so many. Michael was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 21, 1947, to Ronny and Cherry (Markum) Young. He eventually put down roots in Crafton, TX, with his sons, Jeffrey Kyle and Christopher. As a single father, he proudly supported their endeavors and delighted in their achievements. Michael imparted wisdom, practicality, faith, and fierce love, guiding them to be exceptional men, husbands, and fathers. He married Carla Young in 2007, and she passed in 2011. In October of 2018, Michael found love again with Jennifer Stover. In that year, he welcomed his first grandchild, Axton.
Michael and Jennifer made a home together with her four children in 2019, and they married December 30, 2024. Two additional grandchildren, sisters Liberty (3) and Summer (6 months), further expanded his heart and our family. Michael began his post-COVID career in December of 2020 with Prime Metal Buildings and Components in Bridgeport, TX. For over five years, he'd been with the company, from delivery to sales, Dublin store manager and resident of Comanche, and finally Distribution and Sales in Weatherford. He enjoyed his co-workers and customers alike, and Michael felt he had a good family there. In his off-time, Michael loved to fish, ride his motorcycle, spend time with family, and tinker in his shop.
Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Carla Young; father, Ronnie Young; and mother, Cherry Wells.
He is survived by his Wife, Jennifer of Crafton; son, Jeffrey Young and wife Shawna of Crafton; son Christopher and wife Brittany of Knoxville, TN; stepdaughter, Devin Adamo and husband Alexander of Poolville; stepsons, Ethan Bates of Weatherford and Fagin Bates of Crafton; stepdaughter, Samantha Hill of Crafton; grandson, Axton Young; granddaughters, Liberty and Summer Young; sisters, Denise Wells, Tammy Nevins, and Constance Blade; numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Michael left behind a beautiful legacy of true fatherhood, deeply devoted companionship, exuberant joy, and unwavering love. We will cherish our memories of him for the rest of our days.
A memorial gathering will be held at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate canned food to Michael’s favorite company competition- the Annual Prime Canned Food Drive, Weatherford Store. He’s brought that trophy to each location.
