Michael Charles Thomas, 46, went to be with his Lord and Savior in the late hours of Sunday, February 1st, 2026, at his home in Lake Bridgeport, Texas.
Funeral service is at 11:00AM Saturday, February 7th, 2026, at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport, followed by a graveside service at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM on Friday, February 6th at Hawkins in Bridgeport.
Michael was born at a whopping 13lbs on November 12th, 1979, to Ronnie and Jennie Thomas in Bridgeport, Texas. From the very beginning, he earned and maintained his title of “Big Mike”. Like a true Bridgeport native, he also graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1999. His years spent in school were consumed with his love of sports, and him being notoriously known on the football field.
Starting early in his life, he achieved an even bigger triumph than he ever could on the football field and that was being a father. Being a father turned him from the man-of-steel athlete to the giant teddy bear he’s been lovingly known. His 4 daughters truly were his heart. To know Mike was to love Mike, and when you loved Mike, you saw just how proud he was of his girls.
Mike had a dedicated career in the oilfield as a Lease Operator for nearly 28 years, majority of those years spent at Devon Energy/BKV, and his last year of his career in the field with Spartan Companies.
Mike was always not only the biggest man in the room, but the biggest personality. His wit, sense of humor, and ability to make anyone laugh always lit up the room. He truly enjoyed the company of his friends and family, and finding any occasion to cook on his BBQ Pit for them.
Those tragically left behind to cherish his memory are his father, Ronnie Thomas, children Makinzee Melton and husband Tyler, Christina Thomas and partner Sean McComas, Breanna Thomas, and Keegan Thomas; his two remaining siblings Shelly Green and husband Roger, and Carma Chastain; grandchildren Aubree and Millie Melton, and Cypress McComas; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother Jennie Thomas and brothers Ronny Thomas, Jr. and Richard Green.
