Michael Joseph Magliola

Michael Joseph Magliola, 51, of Poolville, Texas left this earth on Thursday, July 9, 2026, in Dallas, Texas.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31st at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur, Texas. Fred Raney will officiate. Military honors provided by the Wise County Veterans Group.

Michael was born on December 2, 1974, to Tyler and Nancy (DeWitt) Magliola in Smithtown, New York. He graduated from Patchogue-Medford High School. Growing up on Long Island, Michael developed a lifelong passion for the ocean and surfing. He surfed many iconic areas, including Ditch Plains-Montauk and Smith Point Beach in New York.

He proudly served our country in the United States Navy for five years and remained deeply connected to his HSL/HSM-51 Warlords brothers and sisters. His love for his country and the Navy was unparalleled and legendary.

Michael also had a true passion for hockey and was a lifelong, devoted New York Islanders fan. He grew up playing ball/deck hockey. After moving to Texas, he shared his love for the sport by founding the Dallas Ball Hockey League, which lives on today as Texas Ball Hockey. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and a loyal friend to many who will miss his vibrant spirit dearly. Michael’s legacy of service, friendship, laughter, and love will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy DeWitt Magliola.

Michael and Greshen Magliola began their beautiful lives together in 2010. They welcomed their daughter, Julia, in 2012, and were married in 2021 in Decatur, Texas.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Greshen Magliola; his father, Tyler Magliola and wife Ann Magliola (who loved Michael as her own son); his daughters, Hannah Magliola (20), Ava Magliola (18), and Julia Magliola (14); his son, Jake Hill (27) and wife Chan; his sister, Michelle Magliola; his niece, Ashley Connaghan; his nephew, William Stark; as well as a large extended family and a host of deeply valued friends.

2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord” He is home. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Michael’s honor to the American Diabetes Association or the American Kidney Fund.
