Melba Louise Blake

I ndependence, Virginia ~ Melba Louise Blake, 85, went to be with our Lord Thursday, June 18, 2020 in Independence.

A Private Family Service will be held to honor Melba.

Melba Louise Blake was born March 25th, 1935 in Longview, Texas

She was a devoted mother.  Melba was a registered nurse who had a gift for serving others.  She shared her knowledge of nursing as an instructor at Bowie Hospital in Bowie, Texas.  Melba was deeply loved by her family and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Davis and Daisy Dhooge; her daughter, Denise Golden; her sister. Nelwyn Christopher; and her brother, Monty Dhooge,

She is survived by her sons Ronald Daugherty and David Daugherty; her brothers, Weldon Davis and Patrick Dhooge; her grandchildren, James Daugherty, Jackie Mart, Jeremy Daugherty, Amanda Daugherty, Abby Daugherty, Phillip Daugherty, Kassie Urban, Stephanie Golden, and Ashley Golden, and several great-grandchildren, numerous extended family members, and a host of friends.
