Chico ~ Maycie Denise South, 13, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 in Chico.
Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2022 at Chico High School Gymnasium with burial to follow in Crafton Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Rev. Gary Dimmitt & Jerry Beaver will officiate. Pallbearers will include, Cody Burris, Neil Richey, Benny North, Dean Wilson, Jerry Beaver, Monty Forbus, Dusty Sides and Aaron Stanfield. Honorary pallbearers will be the Chico volleyball sisters.
Maycie was born on November 16, 2009 to Cody and Heather (Donley) South in Decatur, Texas. She was a student at Chico Middle School, and very accomplished in her academics, being an honor student and on the Student Council. Maycie was quite an athlete playing volleyball, softball, basketball and a 7th grade cheerleader, she loved photography, the great outdoors and beautiful sunsets. Maycie had many friends and teammates and was loved by her fellow students, teachers and community. She was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, friend, and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her parents, Cody and Heather South of Chico; her twin sister, Mattie B. South of Chico; her baby sister, Martie Jo South of Chico; her brother, Colton South and wife Reagan of Chico; her niece, Huntleigh South; her grandparents, David and Shirley Donley of Bowie, Jim and Rita South of Azle, Kenneth Wilson of Chico; her great grandparents, Kenneth and JoAnn Manning; numerous extended family members, teammates, and many close friends. Her infectious smile and laugh will be missed by all that knew her.
