Mary was born on August 18, 1916 to Sterling and Maudie Simmons Pounds in her hometown of Decatur, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur since 1949 and was a member of the Decatur Hospital Auxilary for 14 years.
Left behind to cherish her memory are 2 sons, Jerry Starnes of Decatur and James Starnes of Crawford, TN; 3 grandchildren Kirk, Caylyn, and Rob; 1 great grandson Jackson; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Lewis F. pounds of Decatur; 2 sisters, Lillie Mae Warren of Coahoma, Texas, and Jewel C. Woods of Dallas.
