Martha Lee Kilmer

Jan 15, 1952 — Aug 31, 2026

Martha Lee Morris Kilmer was born January 15, 1952, in Decatur, Texas, to Albert Calvin Morris and Winnetta Belle Hancock Morris. On August 31, 2026, she went home to be with the Lord she loved.

Martha was the second child in a family that meant everything to her. She was blessed with an older brother, David Michael; two younger brothers, Calvin Wayne and Timothy John; and later a precious baby sister, Joetta, who completed the circle of siblings she cherished all her life.

She began her school days at Decatur Elementary and graduated from Slidell High School in 1970. Afterward, she attended Cooke County College in Gainesville, Texas.

In 1977, Martha met the love of her life, Joe Kilmer. They were married on December 16, 1977, and began a life built on love, faith, and family. Joe brought four children with him- Kim, Joe, Joyce, and Angie. Martha opened her heart completely to them. She was overjoyed to be their second mother and loved them as her own.

On May 6, 1989, the Lord blessed Joe and Martha with a son, David Kilmer, and their family felt complete.

On October 9, 1995, Martha’s world was broken by a tragic work-related accident that took her beloved husband from her. The loss was deep, but Martha turned even more fully to her children and to her Lord Jesus Christ. She spent the rest of her life loving her family and walking closely with her Lord.

Martha gave her heart to Jesus when she was young, and He remained the quiet strength of her days. She was a devoted member of Cross Point Baptist Church, where she loved singing special music for the people, she called family and sharing her voice as an offering of praise. She also found comfort and friendship among her neighbors in the apartment community in Sanger, Texas, who became dear to her.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Winnetta Morris; her husband, Joe Kilmer; and her son, Joe Kilmer, Jr.

She is survived by her children David Kilmer; Kim Hess and her husband, Terry; Joyce Hill and her husband, Travis; and Angie Spoon and her husband, DelRoy.

She is also survived by her brothers Michael Morris and his wife, Karen; Wayne Morris and his wife, Trena; and Tim Morris and his wife, Keitha; her sister, Joetta Kilmer and her husband, Clinton; and her Uncle Olen Morris and his wife, Elaine.

Martha’s love lives on in her grandchildren: Nathan, Christopher, and Emily Hess; Kasha; Latigo Hill and his wife, Taylor; Amanda Beaver; Thomas Crewse; Trey Valyer and his wife, Jessica; Kylie Jo Miller and her husband, Jake; and Shyann Knight and her husband, Jeremy.

She also leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family and friends who will always remember her kindness, her faith, and her open heart.

These three verses were especially dear to Martha, and her family would like to share them with you
