Decatur: Maria Del Socorro Rivas, 48, a cook at Chicken Express, went to be with our Lord, Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in Decatur.
Graveside service is 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5th at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Maria was born in Zaragoza Coahuila, Mexico. She was united in marriage to Juan Rivas on March 9, 1985 in Zaragoza Coahuila, Mexico. Maria was a member of the Catholic church.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Juan Rivas of Decatur; three sons, Johnny Rivas and wife Stephanie of Rhome, Jeffrey and Orlando Rivas both of Decatur; three grandchildren, Kody, Elissa and Hazel; eight brothers, Guadalupe, Hector, Gilberto, Cristobal, Javier, Sergio Rodriguez all of Decatur, Victor Rodriguez of San Antonio, and Jorge Rodriguez of Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico; 8 sisters, Maria Isabel Rodriguez, Margarita Valenzuela, Guadalupe Lara, Guillerminia Rodriguez, Maria de Jesus Fernandez, and Esperanza Rodriguez all of Decatur, Virginia Ibarra and Maria del Refugio Rodriguez of Zaragoza Coahuila, Mexico; other family members and a host of friends.
