Boyd ~ Luther “Luke” Amos Trammell, 54, passed away peacefully at home with family after a long, hard battle with cancer on Friday, March 20, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 29th, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd. Family and friends are welcome to come and go at this remembrance.

Luke was born on December 13, 1971, to Bobby D. and Kreta N. (Greenlee) Trammell in Fort Worth. He graduated from Boyd High School in 1990, where he was a Senior Class Officer and received an honorable mention as an All-District Wide Receiver in Football. Luke graduated from the University of North Texas in 1996, majoring in History, Political Science, and Social Studies. He had a deep passion for horticulture and enjoyed his time working at nurseries in the towns of Denton, Azle, and Decatur. Luke also worked as a substitute teacher in Bridgeport and Chico. Luke enjoyed traveling through most of the western United States while employed at Holland Rail Services, where he contributed his skills and efforts to support the team in providing rail service solutions. For the past seven years, Luke had been employed at Sam’s Distribution Center, located in Justin. During this time, he has taken on various responsibilities and played a key role in supporting the center's operations and logistics. Luke enjoyed sports on all levels and engaging in sports trivia with friends. He loved Texas offshore fishing, and his favorite music genres were country from the 1950s through the 1980s, as well as rock. He also played a pretty mean blues harmonica. Luke was a beloved son, brother, nephew, and a friend to many that will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kreta N. Trammell.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his father, Bob Trammell of Boyd; his brother, Mathew Alan, and his wife, Cindy, of Fort Worth; his uncles, Eddie L. and David Dwyane Trammell, both of Athens; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

The family would like to thank everyone who had made contact with Luke and encouraged him during his battle.
