July 18, 1959 – October 22, 2026
With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Luann Hughes Taylor, who passed away on October 22, 2026, in Decatur, Texas, at the age of 67.
Born and raised in California, Luann was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, partner, and friend whose kindness, laughter, and love for life touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a way of bringing people together, making the most of every moment, and finding happiness in the simple things life had to offer.
Luann spent many years at The Parts House of Modesto, where she shared her passion and knowledge of foreign automobiles while working behind the parts counter. She loved what she did, but it was the people who made it truly special. To Luann, her customers were more than just customers — they became friends and were treated like family. Her friendly personality, knowledge, and genuine care for others made her a familiar and welcoming face to so many over the years.
Luann had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and spending time surrounded by nature. She had a special place in her heart for animals and found joy in caring for them. She also loved to cook, and nothing made her happier than being surrounded by family and friends. She was truly the life of the party, especially during the holidays, when she loved gathering everyone together, sharing laughter, and making memories. Luann also loved a good card game, and somehow, no matter who she was playing against, she always seemed to come out the winner! No matter what life brought her way, Luann had a gift for making the most of what she had and finding reasons to celebrate.
For 23 years, Luann shared a loving and devoted life with Farren Cooper. She adored Farren, and their relationship was filled with love, companionship, laughter, and countless adventures. They enjoyed day drives, picnics, gardening together, and peaceful days at the lake fishing and camping. They made beautiful memories wherever they went, finding joy in both grand adventures and the simple moments they shared.
Farren stood faithfully by Luann’s side through every up and down, caring for her with unwavering love, patience, and devotion. Their bond was deep and enduring, and Luann loved him with all her heart. The life they built together was one of her greatest treasures, and the memories they shared will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
Luann shared a deep and meaningful bond with her mother, Lorene, whom she loved dearly. The two spoke nearly every other day, sharing life’s everyday moments, laughter, and conversations that meant so much to them both. Luann always wanted to make her mother proud, and their special connection was one she treasured throughout her life.
She also held great love, respect, and admiration for her father, Vern. She looked up to him and took tremendous pride in his military service and his career as a highway patrolman. His dedication and service were a source of pride and admiration for Luann, and she was always honored to call him her dad.
Although miles often separated them, Luann’s love for her sisters never faded. Family meant everything to her, and no amount of distance could change the special bond they shared. The loss of her sister, Cindy, was one of the greatest heartbreaks of Luann’s life, leaving a place in her heart that could never be filled. She carried Cindy’s memory with her always, while continuing to cherish the love and connection she shared with her sister, Terry.
Above all else, Luann loved her family deeply. To her daughter, Ashley, she was her best friend and her listening ear. Whether it was a simple phone call, a heart-to-heart conversation, or a helping hand when it was needed most, Luann was always there. Their bond was one of love, friendship, and countless memories that Ashley will carry with her forever.
Being “Grandma” to her grandson, Parker, was one of Luann’s greatest joys. The two shared an incredibly special bond, and she was one of his biggest fans. She loved watching him play sports, cheering him on from the sidelines, and celebrating every accomplishment, big or small.
Luann is survived by her beloved partner, Farren Cooper of Denton, Texas; her daughter, Ashley Taylor Chavez, son-in-law Paul Chavez, and beloved grandson Parker Chavez, all of Ponder, Texas.
She is also survived by her mother, Lorene Nachtigal of Selma, California; her father and stepmother, Vern and Shirley Hughes of Selma, California; her sister Terry and brother-in-law Lester of Bakersfield, California; her nieces Stephanie Ray and husband Greg of Bakersfield, California, and their daughters Kylie and Gillian; and Brittany Pedroza and husband Daniel of Bakersfield, California, and their daughters Kara and Kaitlyn, along with extended family and many dear friends.
Luann was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Cindy Nadassady, and her stepfather, Al Nachtigal.
Luann’s greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely. Her family will forever miss her laughter, her comforting presence, the conversations that could last for hours, and the simple joy of having her there. Farren will forever cherish the years they shared, the adventures they experienced, and the love that carried them through every season of life. While life will never be quite the same without her, the love she gave will remain with them always.
Her presence will be missed at every family gathering, her laughter remembered in every celebration, and her love felt in every memory.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
