Bridgeport ~ Lorenzo Garza, Sr., 81, went to be with our Lord Monday, January 19, 2026, in Decatur.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 29th, at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial at The Mexican Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 28th, at the funeral home.
Rev. Gary Demmitt will officiate. Pallbearers are Jesus Rodriguez, Jonathan Garza, Anthony Smith, Jacob Luevanos, Juan Martinez, Jr., and Reynol Garza. Honorary Pallbearers include Joshua Martinez, Lucas Perez, Max Smith, Braden Liner, and Christopher Kuhlman.
Lorenzo was born on February 2, 1944, to Guadalupe and Delores (Garcia) Garza in Monterrey, Mexico. He was united in marriage to Esperanza Martinez on May 8, 1970, in Waurika, Oklahoma. Lorenzo retired after 40 years of working as a forklift operator at ACME Brick. He was a beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esperanza Garza; his son, Reynol Garza; and his grandson, Ruben James Dunlap.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Cynthia Rodriguez and her husband Felix Mendoza of Fort Worth, Maria Garza and her husband Randall Smith of Bridgeport, Lorenzo Garza, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Bridgeport, Cicilia Caddell and her husband Jerry of Fort Worth, Veronica Perez and her husband Rodolfo of Fort Worth, and Lupe Martinez and her husband Juan of Fort Worth; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Martha Garza, Elizabeth Garza Garcia, Delia Gonzalez, and Carolina Garza Alvarez and her husband Carlos Eduardo Navarro Hernandez; several nieces, nephews, a host of friends, and a loving family from Monterrey, Mexico.
