Furman was born on October 22, 1941 to Roy and Nevie (Crider) Cox in Fort Worth. He married Rebecca Cardwell on April 9, 1976 in Fort Worth. He retired from TU Electric in Fort Worth and then worked as a sales representative for Wise Electric.
Furman was an avid sportsman; hunting and fishing as often as possible. He rode and trained horses all his life and enjoyed team roping, penning, and sorting in his younger days. He always had a good dog by his side whether outdoors or sitting by the fireplace. He was a sports fan, rooting on TCU, UT, the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. Furman was always up for a game of dominoes, Wahoo, horseshoes or washers, if anyone dared to play him. In high school, he played tight-end for the Lake Worth Bullfrogs and was voted Ranch Foreman. He later played softball, golf and bowled. He was a member of Cowboys for Christ, and a past-member of Saginaw Kiwanis and Optimist clubs. But his passion was for his family. They will surely miss their "tall oak" and will remember him as "a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:8
Furman was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Cox of Boyd; his children, Melissa Massey and husband Van of Weatherford, Darren Cox and wife Gina of Saginaw, Wendy Holloway and husband Lynton of Fort Worth, Coy Cox and wife Sarah of Fort Worth; his grandchildren, Jordan, Keith, Jacob, Jared, Hunter, and Trace; his brother, James E, Cox of Granbury; his sister, Naomi Flory of Keller; other family members and a host of friends.

Becky,
We can't put into words the loss we feel.
We reconnected with an old friend and now will have to wait a while to see him again.
We love you and are praying God's perfect peace for you.
