Leslie Paul "Lo" Oates

Paradise~ Leslie Paul “LO” Oates, 60, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday June 17, 2020 in Decatur.

Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial in Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Bro. Britt Doty and Rev. Mike Wheat will officiate. Pallbearers include Wendall Bridges, Stan Caruthers, Michael Tittor, Jody Yates, David Jenkins and Bryson Richardson, Gaylen Oates, Pat Oates, James Lindstrom and Bob Hudson.

LO was born on July 5, 1959 to Virgal Lee and Valeria (Cleveland) Lewis in Decatur, Texas.  He was united in marriage to Denise Holladay on July 12, 1992 in Las Vegas. LO was retired from LO Transport where he worked in the trucking industry for many years building his business from the ground up. Most will remember LO’s compassionate, kind, and loving heart that set him apart from many. He never met a stranger, and if there was a need he would fill it. His big hugs and contagious smile will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved him. LO enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends, helping Gracie with her cattle and playing with his grandchildren. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather "DaDa", uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

He is preceded in death by his father, Virgal “Rooster” Oates and son-in-law Robert "Rob" Gonzalez.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 27 years, Denise “DiDi” Oates of Paradise; his daughters, Tiffany Oates Gonzalez of Denton and Gracie Rae Oates of Paradise; his son, Stetson Oates and wife Leslie of Bridgeport; his mother, Valeria Lewis of Decatur; his grandchildren, Cooper, Reece, Landry and Blake; his sister, Marcy Oates Hudson and husband Bob of Decatur and Dana Oates Pomerance and husband Norm of Denton; his nieces, Meredith Quach and husband Cha of Frisco; Chelsea Holder of Ft. Worth; and Cala Holder of Ft. Worth; numerous extended family members, and a host of friends.
