Chico ~ Leroy Culpepper, 73, a man of many hats, husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend; who will always lovingly be remembered to all as Doodle, passed away peacefully at home with his family surrounding him on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2018 at Wise County Cowboy Church in Decatur with burial in Cumby Cemetery in Chico. Family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Bro. Jeff Tacket will officiate. Pallbearers include David Marshall, Les Haralson Sr., Calvin Davis, Jody Davis, Mikey Barton and Johnny Paul Barton.
Doodle was born on September 28, 1944 to Luther Culpepper and Delia (Smith) Culpepper Gaither in Fort Worth, Texas. He was united in marriage to Nancy (Hicks) Culpepper on March 25, 1973 in Oklahoma. He was a member of the Wise County Cowboy Church in Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Culpepper; his mother, Delia (Smith) Culpepper Gaither; his sister Sue Marshall.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Nancy (Hicks) Culpepper of Chico; his daughter Missy Dickinson and husband Dan of Springtown; his grandchildren, Lexe Jones and husband Nathan of Chico and Makenzi Harris of Fort Worth; his great grandchild and the light of his life, Cooper Scott Jones; his sisters, Evelyn Culpepper of Gainesville and Margaret Ann Haralson and husband Odis of Azle; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
