Decatur: Lee "Pete" Reeves, Jr, 78, passed away, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in Decatur.

Funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, June 7th at the First Baptist Church of Decatur with Rev. Ken May officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Dr. W.M. Lewis, Stephen Wren, Bobby Wilson, Bart Wilson, A.C. Griffin, Nolan Griffin, Edwin Haney and Tommy Williams. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Men's VI Sunday School Class.

Pete was born July 28, 1934 in Cooke County, Texas to Lee and Johnie Mae (Gilbreath) Reeves, Sr. He was five years old when his family moved to Wise County in the Deep Creek area. Pete attended Boyd ISD until the 6th grade and the family moved to Decatur. Pete graduated from Decatur ISD in 1952. He played football, basketball and track and he set a new record in high jump in 1952 at Austin.

He was united in marriage to Peggy Hubbard on October 4, 1952 in Ardmore, Oklahoma and the couple reaffirmed their marriage on October 4, 1982. Pete retired from the engineering department of the TXDOT after 40 years of service. He was a licensed engineer tech, inspector and project manager. After his retirement, Pete enjoyed hunting and traveling with Peggy.

Pete was a member of the First Baptist Church for the past 53 years, treasurer of this Sunday School Class and was an usher and greeter for the last 20 years. He was a member of the Jr. Jaycees, the Eagle Club, the Sheriff's Posse where he served as Corral Boss, and was the Beef Superintendent of the Youth Fair for more than 30 years.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Peggy Reeves of Decatur; daughter, Debra Wood and husband Paul of Boonesville; son, Tim Reeves and wife Traci of San Angelo; five grandchildren, Jody Wood of San Marcus, Andy Wood of Boonesville, Ryan Reeves of Dallas, Megan Roberts of Waxahachie, and Tatum Reeves of San Angelo; four great-grandchildren, Abby and Jordan Wood, Frankie and Luci Roberts; numerous cousins and a host of friends.

Pete was preceded in death by parents and sister, Virginia Walker.
