Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 24th at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with Rev. Mark Stockstill officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Laura was born in Wise County to Frank and Eva (Sexton) Clay on December 20, 1922. She was united in marriage to Neil Burress and he preceded her in death on November 17, 1983. Laura was also preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Christie Thornton; 6 brothers; and 4 sisters.
During WWII, Laura was secretary to J. Edgar Hoover and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur.
Left behind to cherish her memory are daughter, Sandra Walburg and husband James of Southlake; 5 grandchildren, James Thornton and wife Kerrie of Decatur, Lauren, Alissa, Chloe and Jared Walburg all of Southlake; great-granddaughter, Dylan Thornton of Decatur; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
