Paradise ~ Kenneth Gerald Maxwell, 84, a retired General Motors worker, went to be with our Lord Monday, May 25, 2015 in Decatur.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Cottondale Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Rev. Gary Maxwell, Rev. Melvin Strong, and Rev. Dwayne Maxwell will officiate. Pallbearers include Kyle Miller, Marcus Maxwell, Trace Reed, Paul Torres, Dennis Maxwell, and Jesse Pruitt.
Kenneth was born on March 17, 1931 to M.T. and Johnnie (Moore) Maxwell in Stigler, Oklahoma. He was united in marriage to Nova Audrey Ray on June 7, 1952 in Uma, Arizona. Kenneth retired from General Motors then worked for Wal-Mart for an additional 10 years. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Bridgeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years, Nova Maxwell; his son, Kenneth Dale Maxwell; his brother, Rev. Glen Maxwell; and his sister, Fearl Dean Flood.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter-in-law, Cheryl Shetter of Paradise; his grandsons, Jerry Maxwell and wife Sandy of Paradise, Joe Maxwell and wife Valerie of Paradise, Chris Maxwell of Oklahoma; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; his sister, Shirley Ridgeway and husband Abe of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Faye Tucker and husband J.D. of Adrian, Michigan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
