Kathryn Doris McMillan Faires, 82, of Decatur Texas and Hendersonville North Carolina went to be with her God in Glory and died peacefully with her family beside her on January 7, 2015. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 12:00 noon at First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport, Texas with a family circle of remembrances instory, pray, Scripture, and music. Interment will be at a later date at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Charlotte North Carolina.
Mrs. Faires, devoted to her family and a devoted Christian, was born in Wallace, NC in the home of her grandmother, on August 14, 1932. The daughter of the late Asha Kathryn Williams McMillan and George Francis McMillan. She graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1950 and graduated 1954 from Meredith College with a BS in Education. She was a devoted elementary teacher with the North Carolina school system and in Texas with Galveston Island School District (GISD). She was an active member of PEO and volunteered tutoring after retirement.
Mrs. Faires met her Husband, Archie Brown Faires, for the first time in Wallace, NC while on a blind date and later reconnected in college. They celebrated 60 glorious years of forever devoted love in marriage on June 13 th 2014. During those years she was a dedicated , caring, loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and server of God. She taught others by example the way she lived her life.
She was a devoted Christian woman in faith throughout her life as a Presbyterian. Her devotion to God stems from her solid Godly foundation as a child and her devotion to her husband as a preacher’s wife and Elder of the Church and Woman’s Circles and ever-devoted acts of love and kindness to her family, her church family and circle of friends and McMillan Valley Chapel community and community at large.
She was a gracious, loving, caring, tenderhearted woman that carried wisdom and calmness in her Being.
She is survived by her loving and compassionate husband, Archie Brown Faires; Daughter, Emily Kathryn Faires Egenberger and husband Rudolph of Danbury CT; son, Archie Dan Faires and wife Denise of Decatur TX; daughter, Marsha Lynn Faires of Decatur TX, and daughter Leigh Ann Faires of Hendersonville NC. 2 grand-children Jacob Daniel Faires of Austin TX, and Vincent Michael Faires of Portland Or; and step granddaughter Roxanne Lape of La Grange GA. Her twin brother, George Jarvis McMillan; her brother in law, Alton M.Faires and sister in law, Ethel Faires and extended family of nieces, nephews and Cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grand daughter Rebecca Lynn Faires and sister Suzanne Williams McMillan.
