Juanita (Manning) Roberts

Chico ~ Juanita Roberts, 97, a retired school secretary, went to be with our Lord Friday, November 1, 2019 in Benbrook surrounded by her family.

Graveside service is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2019 in Chico Cemetery. The Rev. Larry Potts will officiate. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Juanita was born on June 15, 1922 to Homer and Velma (Berry) Manning in Chico, Texas. She married Lowell “Ben” Roberts on December 20, 1941 in Oklahoma. She graduated from Chico High School and attended business school at Brantley Draughn Business College in Fort Worth and retired in 1989 as the school secretary from Fort Worth ISD serving at Walter Huffman, Crestwood and Bonnie Brae Elementary.  After retirement and returning to the family farm in Chico, Juanita and Ben enjoyed many life long friendships. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chico.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, Ben Roberts; her brother and sister in law, Travis and Bertha Manning.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son Lowell Roberts and wife Karen of Benbrook; 2 grandsons, Matthew Roberts of Benbrook and Jordan Roberts of Kanehoe, HI, several nieces and nephews, including Kenneth and Jo Ann Manning of Chico, other relatives and a host of friends.
