Decatur ~ Maria Juana Fernandez, 71, of Decatur went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at her home in Decatur, Texas.
Mass and Christian burial 10:00 a.m. Friday April 10, 2015 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers include Librado Fernandez, Octavio Fernandez, Gumaro Fernandez, Aurelio Fernandez, Jr., Jake Fernandez, and Jesse Fernandez.
Juana was born June 24, 1943 to Francisco and Juana (Rodriguez) Chavez in Palmas Altas, Heres, Zacatecas, Mexico. She was united in marriage to Aurelio Fernandez on December 10, 1957 in Heres, Zacatecas, Mexico.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 57 years, Aurelio Fernandez of Decatur; 2 daughters, Yolanda Gomez and husband Joe of Saginaw, and Imelda Fernandez and husband Brandon of Haslet; 6 sons, Librado Ferandez and wife Andrea of Decatur, Octavio Fernandez and wife Norma of Fort Worth, Gumaro Fernandez and wife Adriana of Fort Worth, Aurelio Fernandez, Jr. of Decatur, Jose Fernandez of Mexico, and Jesse Fernandez and wife Cindy of Decatur; 26 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Gabriella Hernandez; 4 brothers, Marcelino, Juan, Victor, and Alberto Chavez, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rosio Fernandez; and a brother, Pedro Chavez.
