Decatur ~ Josephine Hicks Lofton, 92, of Decatur went to be with her Lord Thursday, September 25, 2014 in Decatur, Texas.
Funeral service is 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial in Pleasant Grove #1 Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Rev. Lewis Horton will officiate. Pallbearers include Bill Fennell, Carl Fennell, Dennis Hudson and Craig Shaw. Honorary Pallbearer is Jimmy Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands, Archie O. Hicks and Raymond Lofton; her son Douglas R. Hicks; her grandson, Douglas R. Hicks, Jr.
Josephine was born June 14, 1922 to George and Sylvia (Scott) Neely in Stockdale, Texas. She married Archie Hicks in 1938 and they were married for 37 till his passing. She married Raymond Lofton in 1975 and they were married for 24 years until his passing. Josephine was also a life long member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Decatur.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Melvin Hicks and wife Kay Clark of Cibolo, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Sonja Grissom of Cibolo, Jessica Hicks of Universal City, Texas, Joel Hicks of Cibolo, Texas, Gabe Hicks of Dallas, Marie Young of Dimebox, Texas and Kim Haas of Los Alamitos, California; 7 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Glen Neely of Greenville, Texas.
