Johnny Roland Barnard, a beloved member of his community and a dedicated family man, passed way on August 7, 2025, in Decatur, Texas.
He was born on February 22, 1938, in Angleton, Texas to William and Bessie Barnard.
Johnny had a rewarding career as a welder for a metal fabrication company, where his artisanship and dedication were admired by all who worked with him. In addition to his professional life, Johnny was a devoted member of the Morris Methodist Church of Chico, Texas, where he actively participated in church activities, sang in the church choir and cherished the sense of community it provided.
Johnny proudly served in the National Guard, displaying his commitment to his country and values of service and sacrifice. His legacy is one of strength and resilience, which he imparted to his family and friends.
Johnny is survived by his son, Gary Mason and wife, Marsha; daughter-in-law Marci Mason; grandsons Ryan, Casey, Damon and Avery Mason; grand-daughters Molly Mason, Mikaila Wungow and husband Joezer; great-grandchildren Krimsen Succetti, Liam Mason, Lakota Mason, Adley Mason, Townes Mason, Sawyer Spillers and Hayes Spillers, along with a large extended family and a host of friends who will remember him for his kindness, generosity and sense of humor.
Johnny reunites in peace with his beloved wife of 59 years, Doris Barnard; his cherished son Steven Mason; his great-grandson Wyatt Spillers; his sisters, Dorothy Martin and Billie Lambert; and his brothers, Celil Barnard and Kenneth Barnard. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
