A beloved soul who touched many lives, John Wayne Hood, 69, of Livingston, TX, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2026, in Boyd, TX.
Graveside Service is 10 AM Tuesday, April 7th, 2026, at Earthman Resthaven in Houston, TX.
John was born on April 6, 1956, to Benny Hood and Valerie Jean Williams in Houston, TX. John was raised mostly by his grandparents, James “Jimmy” and Modena Williams.
Known as “Superman” to his boys, he was a devoted father who enjoyed rebuilding engines with Steve and Paul. John enjoyed horseback riding with the grandchildren. John loved being on the water racing jet boats, known as “Jet Boat Johnny” to many. He was a truck driver for many years for a few different companies. Devoted father and friend, he never met a stranger. John had 6 grandkids and 2 great-grandkids, whom he enjoyed spending time with and spoiling beyond measure. He always made sure to tell them “Paw-paw loves you” every chance he got.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, James “Jimmy” and Modena Williams; his parents, Benny Hood and Valerie Jean Williams; his aunt, Sharon Williams Stanford; and his brother, David Hood.
Surviving are his beloved sons, Steven Hood, and his wife Jessica of Boyd, TX, and Paul Hood of Houston, TX; his grandchildren, Wyatt, Addie, Macee, Alyssa, Katelyn, and Lori; his great-grandchildren, Jaden and Angel; his sisters, Lavaughn Hood-Thompson, Sherry Lowe, Brena Valles, and Mary Bright; his brother, Jose “Joey” Guero Valles; numerous nieces, nephews, and hundreds of friends across the states.
