Jimmy Leon Simmons

Jimmy Leon Simmons, 79, of Boyd walked into heaven to be greeted by Our Father God and Jesus his savior along with all the loved ones gone before him on Sunday, November 16th, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 21st at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial at Cottondale Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mark Landers will officiate.

Jimmy was born November 9th, 1946 to William Leon and Bobbie (Landers) Simmons in Muenster, Texas. He was united in marriage November 17th, 1984 to Sue Lamar in Ft. Worth, Texas. Jimmy was a retired Switchman after 30 years working for The Katy Railroad. He was a beloved, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many all of whom will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bobbie Simmons. His sisters Diana Ward, and Debra Hardin. Grandson Colten King.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 41 years, Sue Simmons; and children Cheri Storrs & Eddie, James Simmons & Monica, Richie Simmons & Shelley, Kelly Wysong & Mike, Andy Hatcher & Tanya, Paula Boswell and David Hatcher;  Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
