Jerry Glenn Vess

Funeral is 10 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Boyd with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Rev. Mark Autry will officiate. Pallbearers are Joe Paul Bounds, Kevin Vess, Corey Vess, Derek Minton, Shawn Vess and Jake McConnell. Honorary pallbearer is Buddy Hatley.

Jerry was born on October 14, 1956 to James and Mildred (Hatley) Vess in Decatur. He married Rebecca Hufhines on June 10, 1977 in Crowley, Texas. Jerry was a member at the First Baptist Church in Boyd. He was part owner of V & V Roofing.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James Vess; and his sister, Betty Winders.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Becky Vess of Boyd; his son, Jerry Vess of Boyd; his daughter, Tiffany Vess of Boyd; his brothers, Don Walker and wife Sam of Boyd, Robert Walker and wife Evelyn of Azle, Darryl Vess and wife Nancy of Newark, Dean Vess of Boyd, Gordon Vess and wife Sherry of Boyd, Royce Vess and wife Loretta of Boyd and Ronald Vess of Boyd; his sister, Lavern Minton of Boyd; other family members and a host of friends.
