James Michael Gregory

Mansfield ~ James Michael Gregory, 50, went to be with our Lord on Friday, April 14, 2023.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Speaking will be David Little, Cam Sellars, Michael Cooper, Kyle Stephens, Jr., and Emmett Capt IV. Pallbearers include Emmett Capt, IV, Kyle Stephens, Jr., Stuart Totz, Brian Keith Freeman, Emmett Capt, V, Howdy Miller Capt.

Michael was born November 18, 1972 to Michael Lyn and Coy Ann (Stephens) Gregory in Ft. Worth, Texas. He attended Decatur High School and graduated Texas Tech with a Bachelor’s in Science. Michael was an Executive Director with Norax Supplements. He was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend to many who will dearly miss him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Coy Norman & Kay Stephens, and Lyn & Maybelle Gregory and his two uncles, Bobby Guy Stephens and Dennis Gregory.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his mother, Coy Ann Stephens of Decatur; his father, Michael Lyn Gregory and wife Jeanie of Arlington; a brother, Coy Lyn Gregory and Christina Griffis of Mansfield; a step-sister, Jamie Lewing and Bret Strahm of Plano; his step-daughter, Faith Cruz of Atlanta; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends and colleagues.

Michael was a son whom a mother and father could be proud.  He was personable, smart and a true gentleman.  He made you feel special, appreciated and loved.  Always willing to help, regardless of what might be needed.

Michael had an exceptional sense of humor.  He loved to laugh and always had those in his presence laughing.  His humor was a true talent, he used often.  He was quick witted and could turn a stressful situation into something instantly funny and have those around him laughing instead of worrying.

Working with Michael was a pleasure. He was a special kind of person, possessing the skills and ability to light up all those around him with his positivity.  He always put others before himself and found ways to make people feel comfortable in his presence. He was a problem solver and did not hesitate to jump in and work on an issue that needed resolved.  His life, however brief, was an example to us all of exceptional contribution, hard work and service to others.

Michael enjoyed spending quality time with those with whom he worked, traveling to see popular and exotic destinations, he was always ready for an adventure and loved going to new places.  No matter which State his travels took him to he had an uncanny ability to find good BBQ - Michael loved his bar-b-que!

If you had the chance, you were extremely fortunate to have known him, to collaborate with him and to share beautiful memories with him. He was a man for whom it was truly an honor to have in your life, whether friend, colleague or family.  To him, all became a part of his circle.

We will miss him each day, and wish that he could still be with us, but have faith that he now resides with his Lord and Savior, looking down on us with hope, love and grace.
