Las Cruces, New Mexico ~ James Ernest Green, M.D., 83, a retired doctor of radiology , passed away Wednesday morning, December 25th, 2019 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 4, 2020 at Hawkins Funeral Home with burial in East Bridgeport Cemetery.

James Ernest Green was born on January 4th, 1936 to Dr. Marion Fielding Green and Mary Letitia (Webb) Butler in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was raised in Muleshoe, Texas by his father and stepmother, Dr. Marion and Geraldine (Harrelson) Green. He was united in marriage to Waidene (Morrison) Green on January 28th, 1966 in Dallas, Texas.

He graduated from Muleshoe High School and later graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He attended University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and graduated from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in Mexico. He completed his internship at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri and residency in Radiology at Cook County Health Center in Chicago, Illinois. In 1984, he started his radiology group practice at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico and retired in 2004.

James was a movie buff and an avid golfer. Some of the best times of his life were spent with his buddies on the golf course, at home spoiling the family pets and watching his favorite movies.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 54 years, Waidene Green, formerly of Bridgeport Texas; and their daughter Allisa Green of Phoenix, Arizona; his son, Durk Green and wife Priscilla of Wellington, Texas; his daughter, Jane Leak and husband Mark of Midland, Texas; his son, Jimmy Green of Wellington, Texas; his brothers, Dr. William Green of San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Robert Green of Georgia, and Marvin “Buddy” Butler of Arkansas; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
