James Henry Etter

Boyd ~ James Henry Etter, 81, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in Decatur.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21st, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd.

James was born on October 24, 1944, to Roy and Bertha Lue (Taylor) Etter in Boyd. He was united in marriage to Patricia Jane Petty on August 24, 1974, in Paradise. James retired from General Motors, where he worked as an automotive manufacturer and assembly line worker. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Royce Etter; and his daughter, Kelly Etter.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Patty Etter of Boyd; his sons, Chris Etter of Boyd and Ronald Etter and his wife, Ashley of Boyd; his nephew, who was like a son to him, Daryl Etter and his wife, Josie of Boyd; his nephews, Darin Etter of Boyd, Brent Etter of Boyd, and Roy Neil and his wife, Cathy of Boyd; his grandchildren, Taylor Petty and her husband, Jared, Case Etter, Kamryn Etter, Travis and Trent Daigneault, Alexis Frazier, and Christian Pamplin; his brother, Donald Etter and his wife, Pat of Boyd; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
