Slidell ~ James Lawrence Davis, Jr., 75, a retired rancher, went to be with our Lord Saturday, December 27, 2014 in Decatur.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Slidell Baptist Church with burial in Slidell Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Bobby Cates and Charles Taylor will officiate. Pallbearers include Shawn Barnhart, Isaac Davis, Dustin Davis, Rodney yard, Danny Juarez, and Ralph Amyx. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Martinez.
James was born on April 3 1939 to James and Lola (Hubble) Davis Sr. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was united in marriage to Elma Kay Loyd on May 12, 1960 in Alvord. James retired from being a rancher and dairyman.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Elma Kay Davis of Slidell; his sons, Jimmy Davis of Slidell, and Jeff Davis and wife Lisa of Chico; his daughter, Kathleen Barnhart of Slidell; his brother, Bill Davis of Slidell; 5 grandchildren, Shawn, Sarah, Isaac, Dustin, and Taylor; 1 great-grandchild, Caysen.
