Decatur: James G. Davis, 73, a retired concrete cutter, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, August 15, 2013 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 20th at Pleasant Grove Cowboy Church in Decatur with Pastor Rowland Hodge officiating. Interment: Azleland Cemetery in Azle. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Brian Wiggins, Timothy Wiggins, Robert Thornhill, Roland Thornhill, Ryne Thornhill, Jamie Thornhill and Kolton Davis.
James was born May 23, 1940 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Shorty ad Rachel (Stovall) Davis. He was united in marriage to Shirley Thompson on June 18, 1988 in Roanoke, Texas.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Shirley Davis of Decatur; 6 sons, Jeff Davis of Chandler, Texas, Dennis Davis of Plano, Glen Davis and wife Konnie of Arlington, Ray Davis of Azle, Dale Thornhill of Decatur and Richard Thornhill and wife Judi of Southlake; daughter, Terri Wiggins and husband Phil of Fort Worth; 16 grandchildren, Ashley Pitmon, Katie Davis, Katie Dennis, Kandie Martinez, Kolton Davis, Brian and Timothy Wiggins, Robert, Roland, Paytyne, Ryne, Jamie, Callie and Sydney Thornhill; Lindsey and Lauren Davis; 3 great-grandchildren, Kaden Dennis and Logan and Ellie Wiggins; brother, Ray Davis and wife Carolyn of Richardson.
James was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Shari Alvey; two brothers, Gene and Jerry Davis; and sister, Shirley Patrick.
