Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Interment: Thomas Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home.
Rev. Gary Demmitt will officiate. Pallbearers: Marvin Read, Reece Landers, Roy Boswell, Christopher Davidson, James D. Davidson, Charles W. Davidson II, Jim Bradshaw, and Eddy McKinley. Honorary Pallbearers: Bill Arrington, Price Everett, Eddie Huckabee, Charles Kelley, Mike Bement, and Earl German.
Bud was born on May, 17, 1927, the son of James A. and Jennifer Lena "Jimmie"(Harty) Davidson, in Gilmer, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force for two terms during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Bud married Nelda Faye Holland on September 8, 1952 in Gilmer.
After graduating from high school in Gilmer, Bud worked in various petroleum companies before and after his military career. With 40 year and 45 year rings, he retired from Mitchell Energy in 1992. After the tragic death of his best friend, Bud joined the First Baptist Church of Bridgeport and had been a faithful member. He taught a men's Sunday School class for 8 or 10 years and regularly visited local nursing homes. He was a member of the Masons for 47 years.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Nelda, his brother, Tommy Davidson, and two sisters, Dorothy Shumante and Winnie Davidson.
Those left behind to cherish his memory: daughter, Kathy Smith and husband, Mark of Bridgeport; son, Pete Davidson and wife, Cyndie of Amarillo; grandchildren, Jennifer Wilson, Amy Morgan, Sarah Carney, Charlie, Dustin and Christopher Davidson; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Ava, Grant, Ali; sisters, Patsy Oney of Clarksville, Sue Harris of Gilmer, Virginia Pinson of Bryan, Lurlene Richardson of Gilmer; other relatives; and a host of friends.
