James Derald Baker On October 1, 2026, James Derald Baker, 86, of Weatherford peacefully went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family. 

James was born October 31, 1939, to James O. and Margaret W. Baker in Itasca, Texas. He was united in marriage to Nancy G. Kitterman on May 17, 1963, in Arlington, Texas. After marrying Nancy, James was drafted into the Army and proudly served his country, adding military service to a life defined by dedication to his family and community. James was a retired police officer after 28 years with the Hurst Police Department. He was a faithful member of Rhome Church of Christ, where he also served as an elder. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret Baker; a sister, Andra Baker; and a grandson, Derek Sanders. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Nancy G. Baker of Weatherford; three daughters, Debbie Key and husband Chris of Graford, Marcie Sanders and husband Jason of Weatherford, and Amy Dow and husband Richard of Poolville; a granddaughter, Jordan Hyatt; grandson, Brandon Key and wife Josie; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Casey Key; his brothers, Gerald Baker, C.K. Baker and wife Charyn, Michael Baker and many other cherished family members. 

Graveside Service is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7th at Grandview Cemetery in Grandview, Texas.
