James was born November 19, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Bramblett and Agnes (Barton) Anthis. He served in the United States Army. James married Rhonda Darlene Armstrong in June, 2003 in Mineola, Texas.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife, Rhonda Anthis of Alvord; daughter, Maria Huffman; son, James P. Anthis, Jr.; sisters, Kathleen Shafer and Coleen Anthis all of Chicago, Illinois; and four grandchildren.
