Ivory was born May 24, 1941 in Slayton, Texas to Ira and Katherine (Johnson) Powell. He was united in marriage to Susan Brookshire on November 12, 1985 in Austin, Texas. Ivory served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Freddie and Steve Powell.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan Powell of Bridgeport; daughter, Michelle Powell of Fort Worth; grandson, Eddie Story of Fort Worth; four sisters; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
