RHOME -- Ivan Matthews, 85, went to be with our Lord on Monday, September 22, 2008 in Rhome.
Graveside service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Ivan was born on September 4, 1923, the son of William Odell and Mary Etta (Jennings) Matthews in Springtown. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Norma Jean Harvey on June 22, 1946. Ivan was an appliance repairman for and retired from P.L. Harvey Appliances.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters, Faye Baskett and Birgie Cooper.
Left behind to cherish his memory is: wife of 62 years, Norma Jean Matthews of Rhome; daughters, Melba Housden of carrollton, Suzy Burk of Fort Worth; 4 grandchildren, Justin, Tiffany, Cody, and Lindsay; 3 great grandchildfen, Savannah, Colton, and Ramsay.
