Iona V. (Bruton) Reed

Aurora ~ Iona V. Reed, 98, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, May 15, 2019, in Aurora.

Funeral is 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Aurora Baptist Church in Aurora. Graveside is 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Edith Ford Cemetery in Canadian, Texas. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.

Rev. Jimmy Withers will officiate. Pallbearers include Brent Carter, Brad Carter, Stephen Derting, and Josh Derting.

Iona was born on April 7, 1921, to Rufus T. and Frances F. (Rains) Bruton in Welty, Oklahoma.  She was united in marriage to Jack William Reed on July 7, 1954, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Iona was a member of the American Business Women’s Association where she received the prestigious honor of Woman of the Year in the 1960’s. She was also a member of Aurora Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her 4 sisters; and her 6 brothers.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janet Derting and husband Steve of Aurora; her grandchildren, Brent Carter and wife Lori, Brad Carter and wife Deneen, Stephen Derting and wife Jennifer, and Josh Derting and wife Rachel; her 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
