Henry “H.L.” Lewis Ross, Jr., 84, of Alvord went to be with his Lord Friday, September 17, 2026 in Decatur, Texas.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22nd at Decatur Church of Christ with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Rick Ross will officiate. Pallbearers include A.J. Kapavik, Andrew Kapavik, Will Best, Glenn Guess, and Talon Guess.
Henry was born January 3, 1942 to Henry Lewis, Sr. and Thelma Jewell (Eatmon) Ross in Vernon, Texas. He was united in marriage May 4, 1963 to Shirley LaRue Whatley in Vernon, Texas. Henry was in the transportation industry, having been a truck driver for over 35 years.
He proudly served our country in the United States Army, he was a member of the Wise County Veterans Group and Decatur Church of Christ. Henry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Thelma Ross, Sr.; 2 sisters, Vonnie Taylor and Margie Long; and a great-grandson, Jett Ross.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Shirley Ross; his daughter, Wanda Best of The Colony; his son, Byron Ross of Springtown; his 3 granddaughters, Melinda Kapavik of Ft. Worth, Kristin Ross of Springtown, and Courtney Ross of Ft. Worth; a great-grandson, Andrew Kapavik; 2 great-granddaughters, Lilli Ross and Murphy Ross; his sister, Myrtle Williams of Eldorado; extended family and a host of friends.
