PARADISE -- Helen Vaudean Thomas Gilliland Templeton, 94, a homemaker, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006 in Bridgeport. Funeral: 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Paradise. Burial: Paradise Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Saturday. Helen Vaudean was born in Bridgeport, Texas, the daughter of Sam and Birdie (Thompson) Thomas. She married Paul Gilliland in 1932 in Marietta, Oklahoma. He passed away in 1944. She married her second husband, Aubin Templeton in 1951. They were united until he passed away in 1988.
She was also preceded indeath by nine brothers and sisters: AAron Thomas, Alba Vickers, Homer Thomas, Cleo Roberts, Thalia Cullen, Sam Thomas, Jr., Hayden Thomas, Doris June Flowers, and LaMoyne Johnson.
Survivors: daughters: Bertie Murphy of Paradise, Paula Thornhilld and husband Gene of Coppell, Sarah Rich and husband D.E. of Corinth, and Jerry Foreman of Bridgeport; sons: Joe Gilliland and wife Jan of Paradise, Gaylord Gilliland and wife Cathy of Argyle; 25 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; brother: Truett Thomas of Alvarado, and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be: Ritchard Murphy, Paul Murphy, Randy Hubbard, Ron Hubbard, Rob Hubbard, Chris Gilliland, Wes Gilliland, Matt Gilliland, Todd Foreman, and Brian Foreman. Honorary pallbearers will be: Shiloh Shannon, Shea Martin, Chase Martin, Jory Murphy, Reese Murphy, Jarrett Hubbard, R.J. Hubbard, Ernie Cantrell, Tyler Cannon, Mason Cannon, and Scott Taylor.
