Watauga ~ Hazel Lenor Sherman, 89, formerly of Decatur died Friday, May 30, 2014 in Watauga, Texas.
Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Grove #1 Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Hazel was born January 23, 1925 to James Gross and Coy (Love) New in Parkin, Arkansas. She married Norton Sherman in 1941 and were married for 21 years until his passing in 1963. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Saginaw.
Left behind to cherish her memory are 2 daughters, Carolyn Sue Hardee of Decatur and Tammy Lewis of North Richland Hills; son, Ricky Sherman and wife Janie of Haltom City; 8 grandchildren, Ronnie Sherman, Richard Sherman, Cheri Turner, Wed Hardee, Tim Hardee, Cheryl Haynes, Misty Shwartz, and Jonathan Lewis; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, Bobby New; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Norton Sherman, Jr.; daughter, Judy Maley; 2 grandchildren, David Sherman and Rhonda Burden; and 1 great grandchild, Riley Hardee.
