Funeral service is 1 p.m. Thursday, July 29th at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with interment in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers include David Worthington, John Worthington, Maverick Allen, Beau Allen, Robert Allen, Jr., and Kenneth Yarbrough.
Ray was born May 26, 1931 in Wichita Falls, and was the fifth of nine children of Steele and Adele Thames. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tommy Thames, sister Opal Wilson, infant son David, and his wife of 45 years, Charlene Thames. Ray served in the United States Coast Guard from 1951-1954. He was a retired maintenance supervisor and was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survived by four daughters, Carol Allen and husband, David of Azle; Sandy Wier and husband, Rance of Blanco, Peggy Worthington and husband, Donny of Springtown; Lana Pierce and husband, Derrell of Weatherford; 13 grandchildren, Maverick, Beau and Cassady Allen of Azle; Robert Allen, Jr. of Newark; Sgt. David Worthington and wife, Jennifer of El Paso; John Worthington and wife, Valerie of Houston; Mary Perez and husband, Craig of Houston; Kenneth Yarbrough and wife, Donna of Springtown; Karyle Edgar and husband, Corby of Poolville; Katy Wallace and husband, Brandon of Weatherford; Gena Castagnetta and husband, Nick of Carrollton; Derren and Brian Pierce of Dallas; 20 great grandchildren, two brothers, Paul Thames and Father Bob Thames; and four sisters, Faye Gibson, Mary Ruth Creamer, Wanda Elder and Shirley Banks.
