Decatur: Guynell Overton, 78, went to be with our Lord, Friday, July 27, 2012 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Monday, July 30th at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Dave Clark officiating. Interment: Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Brian Gallman, Stephen Bennett, Wesley Thrasher, Mark Jones, Jeff Murphree, Tony Redwine, Heath Taylor, and John Neal. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby Mitchell, Eddie Badger, Larry Lewis and Jamie Christian.
Guynell was born on September 6, 1933 in Paradise to William H. "Bill" and Cassie L. (Wood) Daggett. She was united in marriage to Jerry Reese Overton on January 28, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas. Guynell was a self-employed business woman and a loving mother for her family. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Paradise.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, Jerry Overton of Paradise; daughter, Michelle Payton and husband John of Decatur; son, Michael Overton of Decatur; 3 grandchildren, Chance and Kara Overton and Marshall Payton; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
