Guinneth Lee (Thompson) Hilton

July 24, 1932 — June 19, 2022

Ft. Worth ~ Guinneth Lee Hilton, 89, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 19, 2022.

Funeral Service is 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2022 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Guinneth was born July 24, 1932 in Decatur, Texas to John Guinn and Evelyn (Cates) Thompson. Guinneth was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always ready to lend a listening ear and offer words of encouragement. After graduating from Decatur High School, she attended secretarial school in Ft. Worth and then worked at the Decatur courthouse and later for the Rural Electric Association. Guinneth then became a devoted wife for 68 years and dedicated herself completely to taking care of her family, raising two daughters. Her family’s well being and happiness were always a priority.

Guinneth’s faith was evident from an early age, serving her church well throughout her life until she was no longer physically able. She grew up in Sand Hill Methodist Church in Decatur, Texas and dedicated herself to wherever her membership took her, most recently Arborlawn United Methodist Church in Ft. Worth. Her life was one of prayer, and she loved listening to gospel music and hymns.

Although her vision dimmed, her memory remained sharp her whole life. Many were blessed with her generous heart, including family, and friends. Her granddaughter lit up her heart and her face with joy.

Guinneth was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Don Hilton; her parents, John Guinn and Evelyn Thompson; her brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Zena Thompson; and by many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Judy Grelson and husband Greg, and Nancy Brickey and husband David; her granddaughter, Melanie Grelson Sherry and husband Brian; 3 nephews, Warren Thompson, Alton Leo Cook, and Joe Hilton; one niece, Beth Holliday and husband Laird.

The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for their tender care.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Arborlawn United Methodist Church, 5001 Briarhaven Road, Ft. Worth, Texas 76109; Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1295 Greenwood Road, Decatur, Texas 76234; Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation, 7240 Chase Oaks Blvd, Plano, Texas 75025; or a charity of your choice.
