George Thompson

George Thompson, 65, of Newark passed from this earth Sunday, February 15th, 2026 in Decatur, Texas.

Memorial Service is 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21st at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur.

George was born December 16th, 1960 to Melvin Preston and Billye Ruth (Shockley) Thompson in Dallas, Texas. He was a repairman for many years. George loved country music and his family. He was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Billye Ruth Thompson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, William Thompson and wife Sarah; his siblings, Tommie Thompson and wife Trisha, Della Rhodes and husband Joe, and Sandra Greene; his grandchildren, McKenna, Marley, and Maebry; several nieces and nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
