Geneva Lucille (Dunn) Potter

Decatur ~ Geneva Lucille Potter Decatur, 84, a cook, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in Decatur.

Graveside service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Fairview Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Bro. James Hurst will officiate.

Geneva Lucille Potter was born October 27, 1929 to Johnnie and Lorene “Norris” Dunn.  She was born and raised in Decatur. Lucille married James Lee Potter on October 19, 1946 at the age of 17 and she immediately became the mother of 4 small children. She had 2 more sons for a total of 6 children.

Lucille is survived by her sons, Randy Potter Sr and wife Marie and Pete Potter and wife Carol; one daughter, Patsy Hall; one daughter-in-law, Linda Potter, all of Decatur; 21 grandchildren and their spouses, Amanda Potter Harper and husband Chuck, Randy Jr. , Jeremy, Tommy, Jimmy, Sherri and Ricky Potter Jr, Jordan and Shelbie Chandler, Tresia Otto, Misty Metzler, Cristy Howlett, Pam Beck, Kimberly Coy, Tommy Hall Jr., Cheryl Bond, Dana and Monty Houtchens, Nikki Lillis and Wesley Manetta; 39 great grand children; 12 great-great grandchildren, 4 sister-in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; 3 sons, Ricky Sr., Ronnie and Donnie Potter; 1 son-in-law, Tom Hall; grandchildren, Bryan and Dawn Marie Houtchens; her parents; her sister, Ruby Jo Fuqua; and her brother, Bill Dunn.

Her life revolved around caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, parents, in-laws and her community. She worked “forever” making “many a meal” cooking for the Decatur’s Rotary Club and Decatur Lions Club where she retired in 1998 after 29 years of service.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to DAV Chapter 70 in Decatur Texas in her honor.
