Aurora-Gene Derting, 85, a retired air traffic controller, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday ,July 1,2009 in Justin. Graveside Service: 11:00 A.M. Monday at Crawford Cemetery in Crawford,Texas. Visitation: 6-8 P.M. Friday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Rev.Jimmy Withers will officiate.

Gene was born in Moody,Texas the son of George Owen and Dovie Lucinda (Kirks) Derting. He served his country proudly by serving in the U.S. Navy. Gene married Helen Christen on July 4,1946 in Streetman,Texas.
He was a member of the American Bar Association and a Baptist.
Gene was preceded in death by parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Those left behind to cherish his memory: His wife of 63 years, Helen Derting of Aurora: Sons, Steve Derting and wife Janet of Aurora, Brian and Curtis Derting of Aurora ,Kevin Derting and wife Melissa of Cedar Park,Texas.
