Gaylon Jay Dorsey

Gaylon Jay Dorsey, 71, of Decatur passed from this earth Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Gaylon was born August 6, 1955 to Gaylon James and Dottie (Kellam) Dorsey in Denton, Texas. He was united in marriage September 2, 2008 to Mary Fenelon in Denton. Gaylon has some college and went on to be self-employed with a trucking company. He loved his family and would do anything to ensure their happiness. Gaylon was a master gardener and premier story teller. He had a deep passion for reading, and in recent years he loved some car shows on YouTube. He was a phenomenal man, husband, and father, brother, uncle, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaylon James and Dottie Dorsey.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 18 years, Mary Dorsey; his children, Joshua Dorsey, Jessica Archer and husband Ken, Jennifer Howerton and husband Eddie, and Jason Dorsey; his grandchildren, Emma, Ella, Elissa, Jenna, Dylan, Chandler and Annie; his siblings, Myrna Clark and husband Larry and Danny Dorsey; many nieces and nephews and extended family and a host of friends.

He will be greatly missed!
