Gary Earl Read

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 30th at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Bro. Sam Starr will officiate. Pallbearers include Dike Read, Bodie Read, Justin Read, Derek Read, Jack Powers, Jerry Stanfield, Ryan Murphy and Randy McComis.

Gary was born on August 18, 1944 to Earnest Sr. and Mildred (Pedigo) Read in Bridgeport. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Tallant on November 2, 2007 in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Gary served his country in the National Guard. He worked as a salesman for Wise Ready Mix. Gary was a member of the Paradise United Methodist Church and the Paradise Breakfast Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann Chilton Read in October 2005; his son, Gary Vance Read; his daughter, Lindsey Diane Read; and his brother, Sonny "Big Ern" Read.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn Read of Bridgeport; his sons, Michael Read and wife Stacie of Bridgeport, Brad Read and wife Karla of Decatur; his granddaughters, Lexi, Taite, Ryleigh, and Kadyn; his brother, Ricky Read and wife Rhonda of Bridgeport; his sister-in-law, Gay Read of Paradise, his stepdaughters, Tammy Atha and husband Scott of Pflugerville, Candi Weaver and husband Jared of Haslet; his stepson, Danny Weddel and wife Karen of Joshua; 10 step grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
