Gary Ray Prescott, age 75, of Benbrook, Texas, entered into the presence of his Lord on Wednesday, November 12,2025, in Fort Worth, Texas surrounded by family. 

His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the communities he served, and the values he championed.

Gary was born March 20 th , 1950 to George Ray and Naomi (Cartwright) Prescott in Decatur, Texas. A proud graduate of Decatur High School (Class of 1968) and Texas Tech University (Class of 1975), Gary devoted over 43 years to a career that touched countless lives. His journey would take him through Lampasas ISD, Victoria ISD, Austin (steel company), Decatur (James Wood Motors, Decatur ISD), and Justin (Northwest ISD) as a teacher, coach, and Athletic Director. In January 2024, Gary was inducted into the inaugural Northwest ISD Athletics Hall of Honor,

recognized for his exceptional contributions to the district’s athletic programs. He was more than an educator—he was a mentor, a motivator, and a steadfast example of resilience and respect. Gary led with heart and principle, always striving to bring out the best in those around him. Whether on the field or in conversation, Gary made people feel seen, valued, and supported. He had a remarkable ability to make you—and your family—feel like the most important people in the room. 

Gary was united in marriage to Patti Lane on June 28, 1975, in Lubbock, Texas. Over the course of more than 50 cherished years together, they built a life rich in love, laughter, and shared adventures. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, two adoring grandchildren, and a lively pack of grand-pups who brought joy to every visit. Family time was treasured and thoughtfully planned around their shared love of sports. From touring college football stadiums across the country to attending UIL state sporting events and cheering on Texas Tech, their journeys were filled with spirited fandom and unforgettable memories.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, George and Naomi Prescott, parents-in-law Ralph and Mabel Lane, and other extended family he dearly loved.

Gary is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Patti Prescott of Benbrook; his son, Lance Prescott of Dallas; his daughter, Staci Clark and husband Jonathan of Aledo; and his adored grandchildren, Dawson and Lane Prescott of Dallas. 

He is also survived by his sisters, Susan Spencer and husband Max of Arlington, and Carol Middleton and husband Eric of Ovilla; his brother-in-law, Mike Lane and wife Jana of College Station; his sister-in-law, Nancy Lane of Aledo; along with more cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
