Gary Calvin Freeman, 80, of Decatur passed from this earth Monday, May 25th, 2026.

Graveside Service is 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 29th, 2026 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur.

Gerre Joiner will officiate.

Gary was born February 4th, 1946 to Calvin Coolidge and Alta Emogene (Scott) Freeman in Blyth, California. He was united in marriage August 2nd, 1969 to Helen Adrienne Doerr in Emporia, Kansas. Gary served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after 22 years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Alta Freeman; and his sister, Robin Stephens.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 56 years, Helen Freeman of Decatur; his sons, Kevin Freeman and wife Carole Graham of Huntsville, Alabama, and Craig Freeman and wife Cassey Loflin of Decatur; his grandchildren, Jacey Loflin of Austin, Chayse Freeman of Decatur, Avery Freeman of Decatur and Carter Freeman of Huntsville, Alabama; his sister, Janice Myers of Sacramento, California; extended family and a host of friends.
