Faye L. Burchfield

Faye LaVerne Burchfield, 91 went to the Lord on Sunday, September 15, 2024 in Saginaw, Texas.

Funeral is 10:30 am, Friday September 20, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Boyd with burial at Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 pm Thursday at the church.

Minister is Mike Hays. Pallbearers are Brandon Hopkins, Kenneth Shepherd, Justin Shepherd, Josh Burchfield, Sean Corbett, Reagan Shepherd, Brandon Ware, Gauge Fahlin and Braedon Hopkins.

Faye was born on May 5, 1933 in Boyd, Texas to Johnny Hatley and Lizzie Hatley. She was united in marriage to Wayne P. Burchfield, Sr. on December 24, 1951 in Vernon, Texas, a marriage of 72 years.

Faye was a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a great-great grandmother, a homemaker, a telephone switchboard operator, a restaurant cook, a store clerk, a store manager and a farmer's wife.  Above all else, along with her husband, she was the eye of the hurricane of her immediate and extended family.  All those that knew her and loved her knew that she was a force in and of herself.  She was a person who was loving, caring, kind, loyal and of course stubborn, but she was also fiercely protective of her family, friends and neighbors.  When she cared to, she could be very plain spoken, never leaving anyone with any doubt as to her opinion on any subject.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Wayne Burchfield; her parents Johnny and Lizzie Hatley; her sister Mildred and brothers Dillard and Willie.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters Patricia Hopkins and husband Minor; Dorothy Shepherd and husband Kenny; her son Wayne P. Burchfield, Jr.; her grandchildren, Brandon Hopkins, Mandy Hopkins Hays, Karrie Morman, Kenneth Shepherd, Justin Shepherd, Erin Schramm, Joshua Burchfield, Sean Corbett, along with sixteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, her brother Darryl Hatley and a host of friends and neighbors.
